A Hole-in-One! Whitecaps Community Foundation Golf Outing

The 7th Annual WCF Golf Outing raises over $40,000!

Thousand Oaks Golf Club – August 1, 2022

Although the morning started with a downpour, the sun quickly followed, becoming perfect conditions for the 135 participants in the Whitecaps Community Foundation 7th Annual Golf Outing. At 11 a.m. Joe Chamberlin, CEO of the Whitecaps, gave a hearty welcome to attendees who were ready to get out on the green. Golfers had an opportunity to buy a Bases Loaded package before heading out to the links, allowing them to take part in activities at every hole. In addition to contests like Hole in One, Longest Drive, and Longest Putt, there were fun and games like an air cannon, speed pitch, Plinko, and drink sampling!

During the event, the Whitecaps Community Foundation held an online auction that raised over $4,000. Some of the items up for bids included autographed baseballs, signed jerseys, and experience packages.

The special guest speaker for this year’s golf outing was former Detroit Tiger, Dave Rozema. Dave Rozema made his major league debut at the age of 20 in 1977. Rozema finished his rookie season with a 15-7 record and a 3.09 ERA and ranked third in the league in winning percentage. He also won postseason honors as the American League Rookie Pitcher of the Year and the Tigers’ rookie of the year in 1977.
